OUR Story
Pastry chef and owner, Anabel Trudeau, is an honor graduate from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and also a graduate of the Baking Majors Program from the same Institute. After graduating, Anabel and her husband, Brent, who also graduated from the CIA, apprenticed in Belgium and Switzerland for 4 months in 3 star hotels. Whey they returned to the U.S. they moved to San Antonio, where Anabel became the first pastry chef for a well known Italian restaurant. Anabel and Brent then moved to Houston where she became the pastry chef for Jackson and Co. Caterers and dazzled Heads of State during the Economic Summit in 1990.
Take the Cake began in 1991 and has provided desserts for restaurants in and around the Houston area since then. In 2000, Anabel began taking orders for special occasion cakes and through word-of-mouth and the business has continued to grow.
In 2009, the bakery will be 18 years old, along with Anabel's son, Justin. Daughter Madeleine, named after the French cookie, is 16.
Currently, we service 50 restaurants and are adding new one's on a regular basis. Even though the wholesale aspect of our business is what we began with, we are happy to offer customized cakes for special occasions.
